OH, THE MUD....

2 or 3 weeks ago I blogged about the house next door that is being literally ripped to pieces.
As you can imagine the cats are greatly affected by this as the garden of this house was like a jungle and their hunting ground
The new owner is 'renovating' it and the back garden that once held a large garage did look like this after the garage was dismantled and the mattresses etc had been removed.

It now looks like the following picture.

The consequence of this is that 20 tiny paws gather lots of brown mud and bring it indoors with them, particularly when it rains, and its raining a lot lately.
Having had a cream carpet laid recently in the lounge, I now have old duvet's and odd covers all over the house in an attempt to stop the paw prints.

And on making a teeny complaint, I was told to keep the cats in !!
I realise its not his fault but I do hope this isn't going on for too long......

  2. Oh no! What a mess! Why would anyone renovate at a time when there is so much rain? How can anything dry out? Lots of building going on around here, too. Very frustrating as safety is not first and foremost and they tend to cause more mess than anything as they are building. Hope your neighbor finishes up soon. Best wishes, Tammy

  7. So much for the thought that cats are very fastidious! All cats here being kept inside until we move to the other property where it should be safe to let some out again. We have some who like to play in any water in sink or bathtub--then jump out and track wetly onto beds or [horrors] onto the table.

  10. Just try and focus on the improvements to your view and know that the mess will pass! It is very hard to live with though I know when your neighbours works are taking a long time and causing mess in your own home. We had problems when a neighbour built an extension a few years ago - it took best part of a year and caused us all kinds of issues! xx

  13. Yes, we ALWAYS have muddy footprints in the house...living on a farm, there is usually mud somewhere...I have no carpets, but need to wash floors a lot..and clean upholstery. Much sympathy to you. If they are like ours, they are in and out all day....

  14. We gave up on carpets downstairs. Everywhere is tiled now. Except one lone rug in front of the fire, which is realy popular. Hope the work finishes soon and gives you a nice view.

  15. My contractor didn't like to take his boots off to use the bathroom so he would take my mop to the room with him and then swish it around behind him as he left, leaving a nice smeary trail behind!
I love your blog and have kitties almost the same as yours!
