HELLO BABY

After much peeping and walking around on the flat roof, the baby seagull has made it down onto the shed roof to help himself to cat biscuits and water.

Watched over by one of the parents it was so close I could almost have touched it.

I stood talking to it and admiring its beauty for ages.
The eyes are so soft unlike the parents who drill right through you with their intense staring eyes.
The feathers are so beautifully marked and soft looking.

This one is really strong and forward whereas last years baby seemed to be a baby for ever only really leaving the parents when they started to breed this year.

Thanks for all of the comments on Bo, I could swamp the blog with pictures of him but I'll spare you to a few now and again, lol

  2. Yes, please swamp us - he's just so cute, as is the baby gull. However, its mother thinks so too, so watch out she doesn't spot you or she'll make you live out a re-run of Hitchcock's The Birds!

    1. We have been feeding the Mum and Dad for years and they know us, I still wouldn't reach out to touch it though, lol

  3. Awww! Even baby seagulls are cute! (And this is an especially timely post -- when I was in Vietnam last week and did an Internet search to try to learn why there are no seagulls in that part of the world, I came across postings asking why people never see baby seagulls. And now, here one is!)

    1. They have one each year Steve. We've never had two in the same year though. I think last years was a bit thick, it hung around for months peeping for food. This one seems to be very with it for its size, it even went for the parent when it tried to get some food.

  6. How wonderful! I have never seen a baby seagull close up! He does have different feathers from the grown ones. Beautiful patterns. I love seeing his little webbed feet, too! He really ate cat biscuits? Well, I think gulls will eat anything.

  9. How awesome to get these pictures! I see what you mean about the eyes. Maybe this fellow will stay kindly disposed even when he gets to be a grownup :)

  12. How lovely that you have the same pair each year - very lucky seagulls but it is wonderful
to see wildlife up close and also give them a helping hand. Well done! Bo is also wonderful!
