RUPERT UPDATE

Just a quick update on Rupert.
I was talking to a neighbour yesterday wh lives 4 doors up and she mentioned that there was a cat fight early one morning.
On thinking about it I think this is the likely cause of Ruperts limp and not wanting to go out.
We must have a new kid on the block.
Poor Rupert has his little routine of walking the same route each day and now has to run the gauntlet.
He is such a gentle giant and is even wary of the 4 girls who are all much smaller than him.
He has started going out and the limp has healed but he is very wary and is'nt going further than the garden.

Thanks for all of your concern.

Here's the soppy date stretched across the office chair, gives you an idea of how big he is.

  3. So sorry to hear of Rupert's trials and tribulations. I hope he will still enjoy going out even if he stays in the garden a bit more. He is a lovely boy!

  4. "Gentle giant" - sounds (and looks) like our cat who went to live with our son. He was bigger than our other cats but got terribly pushed by them. He is so much happier now.

Poor fellow. I hope he still enjoys the garden and the new cat doesn't come in your space! I'm glad he seems to be recovered physically.

  5. What a shame - mine is locked in at night to keep her away from any cat fights. Cats (and dogs) everywhere here. I hope Rupert is fine.

    1. Hi Susan, we keep all of them in at night but Rupert is up at the crack of dawn and doesn't let up until we let him out, I think that is when it happened

  7. I am glad he is ok, he is beautiful. now at least he will stay close to home and out of harms way. so sad for him though. Big boy is shy of dogs because he was attacked at the shelter. hope the mean cat stays far away

  8. It sounds exactly the same as Humphrey. He started limping on Friday night, but we can't find a wound and he's letting us touch his leg. He's a big gentle giant who's scared of his own shadow, but I think he might have been in a fight. If he's still not OK tomorrow I'll take him to the vets.

  10. There are gentle souls and there are mean ones - even among the feline population. Our outside feral cats are for the most part gentle and accepting of each other, but occasionally there is what DH calls an "interloper" who wanders into our yard and starts trouble. DH says that he is just plain mean. But I wonder what made him that way...

  11. Why is Rupert naked? He should be wearing a red jumper, yellow trousers with a thin check pattern and matching scarf!

I'm amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that's both equally educative and amusing, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I'm very happy I found this during my search for something regarding this.

  18. What a beautiful cat! He looks so gentle and sweet. Glad to know his physical wounds are healing. May take time for the mental ones to heal.
