FELTING + TOMS TAPESTRY

Finally got round to doing another post and got my crafting mojo back.  I've let things get in the way just lately and lost my ideas head, lol
I go like this from time to time but I feel all fired up again and have been having a go at felting.

I bought a felting machine a long while back but could never get on with it and didn't like the end result, but my mind took me to felt for the surround of the 'Willow' embroidery so I got my felt bits out and had a go.

This time I did it all by hand, punching in with one needle.  It is a bit time consuming but therapeutic as well if you just let go.

Here it is , not finished but you can see the effect.

A blend of different greens for the bottom which I intend to embroider on.

And the sky to finish off the top.
I still need to punch a bit more to keep it all in place.

Meanwhile over in the corner minding his own business is Tom getting near the end of his tapestry cushion.

So lets hope this creative phase stays for a bit.
We have got all of the doctor's appointments out of the way and can now relax and try to enjoy each day.

  2. I have not heard of felting before this post. its beautiful and I love his tapestry... having crafts like this to do is wonderful.. I wish bob had a hobby of any kind that could be done at home. he only has one and it requires very large spaces to fly little planes. he doesn't read or have any hobby that can be done at home.

  3. Oh wow. I bought a felting machine the other year but in truth might just keep it to felt backgrounds. I adore how you have created that picture and my mind is now buzzing... I think I may drag some stuff out for tonight. I could sit for hours doing that.

  4. WOW! Tom's tapestry is a magnificent piece! How long has it taken him? That looks like years of work.

Love that you are going to needle felt the background on the willow tree. Really nice way to get a beautiful blend of colors.

    1. Hi Pat, He's been working on it on and off for a couple of years, but he only has about 2" to finish so I think he may finish it this time. Jigsaws took over in the winter. lol

  13. I love the soft look of the felting, it really is a perfect surrounding for the tree. Tom is very patient to do such a large cross-stitch! You are both very good at what you do.
