MAKE DO AND MEND + SNOW

A few weeks ago I bought new cushion covers for the wicker chairs that we sit in to do our jigsaws, unfortunately they were nice soft and very appealing to the other five residents of this house.

The problem was that the fur clung to them and no matter how much we hoovered or brushed them they remained a light shade of grey instead of pink. lol

I decided that the only option was cushions made of silky fabric as the fur would just drop off but I didn't want to spend much and with the shops being closed didn't want to buy online as it's unreliable for colour and weight of fabric etc.

I remembered an old duvet cover that was no longer in use as it slipped off the bed (very annoying) and got it out and made some new covers for the cushions.

Voila! new cushions that are fur less.

Now they can do their worst because I have oodles of this to make more if necessary.

And after boasting that we very rarely get snow down here in the South, we have some.
Notice the jogger determined to get his cardio workout done.
Looks like a jigsaw day.

  1. They say it's hard to foil a cat... but you've accomplished it, Briony. Very beautifully, I might add!!! :-) ~Andrea xoxo

  4. I am constantly brushing chair cushions, covering chairs and sofa with an assortment of washable 'throws." So much for coordinated decorating! Its one of the prices we pay [rather gladly most of the time] for the company of cats.

    1. Cats come first in this house. Our relatively new leather sofa now looks like its been with us for a lifetime but who cares.

  5. What a great way to reuse something. There's so much fabric and potential in an duvet cover. Arilx

  6. Excellent job on the cushions! Our weather looks exactly the same here -- not surprising, I guess, since we're so close. :)

  10. What a great job on the new cushions! Our cat pretty much rules this house and sleeps everywhere and anywhere he wants to - beds, table, chairs etc. It is very windy here, but there may be snow over the next couple of days.

  11. Cats have such silky hair that sticks to everything. That's why I'm allergic. Love the cushions. We've had a real big drop of the white stuff.

  12. Briony you cushions look very comfortable. For this cat however, F has discovered I love microfibre blankets (LOVE) so she strategically places cheap fleeces about the place and manages to divert me from the human furniture most of the time. I caught her trying to brush grey fluff off some furnishings yesterday. Ive no idea where it comes from - it gathers near skirtings as well.... xxx Mr T
