I have a small basket that holds my sock knitting, just the right size for a ball of wool and all the bits and pieces.
The only trouble was that the wool kept on snagging on the rough inside of the basket.
So, this morning I decided to line it.
I found a nice piece of cotton and set about doing this .
Easier said than done....
I had so much trouble getting the thread through the basket in places that I had to get pliars to pull the needle through.
I didn't give up though and it ended up looking like this.
Perfect, no more snags and I can get on finishing these socks for Tom.
There's nothing like a hand knitted pure wool sock to keep your feet warm in the winter.
as you say well worth the effort socks look amazing

Good idea! I love knitted sox, even if I can't make them myself anymore.
ReplyDeleteGood job on lining the basket. I love the sock.
ReplyDeleteSo elegant and practical now. I like baskets, but they can be snaggy. Great sock!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute sock! I have wanted to line a lot of my baskets, but could not even make fabric to fit the inside, let alone sew it on the top edges! Which I never even thought of! This is awesome, and you did a professional job.
ReplyDeleteA lovely little basket and such beautiful wool! X

ReplyDeleteWorth the effort. Looks very nice now. Happy knitting.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very professional well done. I'm loving the socks. I love wool like as it's fascinating watching how the various colours knit up.
ReplyDeleteI like the basket and it's even better lined. Love the socks

Lining the basket was a good idea, clever too! Love the sock.
ReplyDeleteLook at those socks! Paul Smith, eat your heart out!
ReplyDeleteI decided to line a picnic hamper once so I can empathise how hard it is to actually do. You made a good job of it though. Snazzy socks - too scared to attempt sock knitting myself!
ReplyDeleteYour basket looks very nice now. Love your wool sock. You did such a great job!!!

The basket looks so nice. And those socks! Tom is going to have some snazzy looking feet.
ReplyDeleteI love a basket and have a few with different projects in them. You've lined it beautifully, I can't imagine trying to sew it through the basket itself, well worth it xx
ReplyDeleteYour lined basket looks very tidy. I have made removable liners for a number of baskets--rather fiddly to do. I usually stitched on a lace edging and added ties to go around the handles to keep the liner in place.
ReplyDeleteLove the basket liner. I just made one for Halloween candy. I love your socks. I knit but never made socks. Always afraid of turning the heel. Seems hard. Someday.... Hugs, LJ
ReplyDeleteYou are a very clever lady Briony and that sock is flipping brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
