LINING THE BASKET

I have a small basket that holds my sock knitting, just the right size for a ball of wool and all the bits and pieces.
The only trouble was that the wool kept on snagging on the rough inside of the basket.
So, this morning I decided to line it.

I found a nice piece of cotton and set about doing this .

Easier said than done....
I had so much trouble getting the thread through the basket in places that I had to get pliars to pull the needle through.

I didn't give up though and it ended up looking like this.

Perfect, no more snags and I can get on finishing these socks for Tom.

There's nothing like a hand knitted pure wool sock to keep your feet warm in the winter.

  5. So elegant and practical now. I like baskets, but they can be snaggy. Great sock!

  6. What a cute sock! I have wanted to line a lot of my baskets, but could not even make fabric to fit the inside, let alone sew it on the top edges! Which I never even thought of! This is awesome, and you did a professional job.

  15. I decided to line a picnic hamper once so I can empathise how hard it is to actually do. You made a good job of it though. Snazzy socks - too scared to attempt sock knitting myself!

  18. I love a basket and have a few with different projects in them. You've lined it beautifully, I can't imagine trying to sew it through the basket itself, well worth it xx

  19. Your lined basket looks very tidy. I have made removable liners for a number of baskets--rather fiddly to do. I usually stitched on a lace edging and added ties to go around the handles to keep the liner in place.

  20. Love the basket liner. I just made one for Halloween candy. I love your socks. I knit but never made socks. Always afraid of turning the heel. Seems hard. Someday.... Hugs, LJ
