Yesterday we went to the Citizens Advice Bureau to get help filling in one of those tomes of form you need to claim anything from the Government.
Trying to get any help is like trying to get blood from a stone, everything is made so difficult and I'm sure the forms are worded deliberately to put people off from claiming.
It took the very nice man 2 hours to complete for us, so we would have been at it all night.
Anyway, its done and posted so now we wait to see if we qualify.
Praise for the CAB, they were wonderful.

Here's my man concentrating on something or other on his kindle, probably face book, I catch him laughing to himself sometimes.  I wonder should I be worried ???
He has no idea that the photo has been taken, lol
The weight seems to have stopped coming off now and he actually looks a lot fitter and says that he feel fine.

I've raked around an found some bits to attach to the caricature patchwork, some scissors and tiny maching and some words that I thought appropriate.

I thought some reels of cotton would look good and so made some tiny card shapes and wound the silk around, I think they'll pass for cotton reels once in place.

By the way... I thought the film 'The Post' was as equally boring as the Churchill film.
I suppose it would be okay if I knew anything about American politics but I don't and so I was lost.
Maybe it's just me. LOL

  1. I believe they make those forms so complicated to discourage people from messing around with whatever. 2 hours. With help? Ouch. I hope the outcome is good.
    Cute little sewing gadgets!

  2. My sister have up her job a couple of months ago due to stress. She has had a carrier bag of forms sent to her from the DWP. All they were fit for was a log burner.....oh how I wish I had one.

  3. Good thing you could get help, finding your way through paperwork is no mean feat! Oh dear, I hope you find a film worth watching eventually.

  4. I'm sorry you didn't like "The Post," but I can see how it would have been confusing or boring if you don't know much about the backstory of the Pentagon Papers and the politics in the USA at that time, leading up to Watergate. If newspaper journalism had a shining hour, that was it!

It's ridiculous that claims forms are so complicated. I think it should be government policy that nothing should be enforced or enacted that's too complicated for the average citizen to handle -- whether it's income taxes or claims forms or whatever.

  5. We too resorted to the CAB. They are wonderful. Ours was for the Attendance Allowance which is not means tested. The DP has to do everything. We still had to appeal. The DP just said I had 26% lung function. Which was true. We got it. You can also go for the Blue Badge. Another battle.

  6. Only course of action to take when confronted by those forms. There is a certain way of giving the info not what you say but how you say it and a good CAB person is worth their weight in gold. Fingers crossed for a very positive outcome for you. Love your little charms xcx

  7. That is good the CAB helped you so it took 2 hours and not all day.

  8. These are so cute! I can't wait to see the finished product. So what were you trying to file for? I agree; I think they make it harder so people will give up. You are so smart to have known about this place. I have never heard of it.

  9. I like all the bits you have to go with your caricature page. Too bad about the movie

  10. Ugg paperwork yuck! Love the tiny miniatures they remind me of an ATC that I got from a trade I joined and I will post it on my next post next week I love it and you should see it, it reminds me of your little sweet notions. I am from America and I thought " I'm not seeing this one it did look boring to me too. you really need to see the new "Jumanji" movie its fantastic!

  11. You are right about those awkward, lengthy forms. I am also sure they are designed to discourage claims.
