For years we have been leaving food out for the foxes and at this time of year and we watch them taking big mouthfulls of food back to the den to feed the vixon.
In all those years we have never seen a fox cub, only the young ones when they are quite big.
Last night as I stood watching, a mini fox cub literally tottered into the garden and stood eating the food.
I was so excited I called Tom and we stood watching.
He was smaller that the cats and the older two foxes were obviously keeping an eye on him as they were each in turn still collecting the food.
He then picked up a big lump of dog food and took it next door under the fence and ran up and down their garden with it in his mouth.
Tonight, I am going to try to get some pictures if he comes back.
I'll post as soon as I get some.
I can't get him off of my mind and hope he got back safely to the den, where ever it is.
I would also like to say to the person who commented on the last post that we were told by the cardiac department to call the ambulance and we were not wasting the hospital's time.

I think it would be so fun to see this 😃what color was the little one?
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet! I would like to see the pictures if you get them. Fine reward for patience! :)
ReplyDeletei have never seen a fox except captive ones, can imagine the excitement at a baby
ReplyDeleteWe see quite a few foxes round here, mainly adults although have seen the occasional youngster. Never seen a cub though...how exciting!
ReplyDeleteHoping he or she comes back, would love to see the pic.
ReplyDeleteWow! We see adolescent or grown foxes in our garden but I've never seen a cub. I look forward to the photos (hopefully!).
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some photos! But don't forget to just enjoy the scene.
ReplyDeleteToddlers seem to be the same no matter what the species - games, cavorting, and no cares :)
It's always a treat to get to watch wild animals
ReplyDeleteLucky you! We have them around in the fields, the DP often sees them early morning. Sorry to hear about the upsetting comment you had. Too quick to criticise some people.x
ReplyDeleteI once had a fox cub come up to me in the garden and sniff my shoe! Another time it stole one of my shoes from the conservatory! x
ReplyDeleteIt is not something we see around here often, fox or fox cubs that is. I bet it was fun to watch. I love watching the deer when I see them out and about. If they are not an issue around your place I hope you get to view that little one growing up and running about.
ReplyDeleteHow delightful. Are you on the outskirts of Brighton or do they go into the town? Look forward to the photos.
ReplyDeleteWe are about 10 mins from the sea in Hove.
DeleteI loved seeing the foxes when we were at deer camp 2 years ago. I did not hunt as much last year, so I did not see them. They are beautiful creatures.
