The weekend was pretty uneventful, we did go to a car boot but my only purchase was a 50p poppy scarf and a crinoline lady tablecloth. It was cold and windy and so we didn't stay long.
It's the bank holiday weekend this weekend and weather permitting we will have two car boots to go to, fingers crossed.
I have finally finished my Godfinch page for the fabric journal and I'm really pleased with it.
The gold edging and frame was a bit tricky to work with but sets the bird off well.
I look at this now and wonder just how on earth I did this. I used to sit and work at it in the evenings with all the kids at home and lots of other things to do but I had more energy then, I don't know quite where its all gone but it has , either the days fly past or I'm too tired to do anything.
If only we had known when we were young what age brought with it we would surely have packed more into each day.
I have posted this on Facebook but for those who do not visit there here is the tiny pansy that has decided that a crack in the pavement is where it wants to grow.
Isn't nature wonderful.
The goldfinch embroidery is exquisite, you are so talented.
ReplyDeleteThe finch page is the best one yet. The gold edging is just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had too many outdoor sales yet, it's been too cold and windy. Brad is hoping for better weather because that's where he gets all the stuff he sells in Ebay.
I didn't realize how much energy Zip and I had when we were young, until we got old! Ha! We used to be able to work all day and into the evening and then have the satisfaction of a good long day of accomplishments. Now we get up and ease into the day after lots of coffee and are tired out by lunchtime. LOL!
What you made so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour Finch is absolutely fantastic, love how you did the frame for it.

That greenfinch is beautiful! I was just reading the other day that greenfinch populations are in decline -- apparently it's not as common to see them on garden feeders as it used to be. I've never seen one on our feeders, though we do get goldfinches.
ReplyDeleteI love volunteer flowers that pop up any old place!
the finch page is my favorite page. this is truly a work of art and so very beautiful
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely beautiful. It must have taken so long to create but the end result is certainly worth the slog.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out absolutely fabulous. I bow to you in awe!
ReplyDeleteSplendid! Wonderful that the greenfinch is being put to use. The frame sets it off beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThe greenfinch is simply beautiful. It just pops off the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThe Greenfinch is ace. I think old age can be good, takes longer but you have more enjoyment as it takes longer and your mind is away from all the worries.x
ReplyDeleteI am AMAZED by your talent! This goldfinch is so stunning! All the wonderful detail, and the shading...it is totally exquisite!!! It should be in a museum! And the framing is wonderful, totally perfect. Wow, the strength of the little pansy is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThe frame is perfect for the bird, clever how you found all the right scraps of fabric to make it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's frightening how time flies by now. I had to close my eyes for half an hour on the sofa this afternoon. The grass needs cutting but I am looking for the motivation and the energy to do the job.
I have heard that there a lot of pansies in Brighton.
ReplyDeleteYou are so naughty but I like you. lol
DeleteKemp town is the place to go , its very floral there. lol
Don't you mean Camp Town?
DeleteWhat a pretty page this is. It turned out fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful embroidery!!!! The framework you made around it is lovely also.
ReplyDeleteThe sweet little pansy is a survivor, growing where it was somehow sown.
Have a wonderful week ~ FlowerLady
What a beautiful job you have done; the border repeats the stitched colours perfectly. I agree about aging; I was never a high energy person but the last few years I can't seem to get out of my own way some days :)
ReplyDeleteThat goldfinch is wonderful. I know what you mean about time. Although Doug and I get a lot done the time just flies and there are never enough hours in the day or days in the week.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece to add to your book. What an amazing work of art it is turning into. I don;t often quote Robbie Williams, but I do agree 'Youth is wasted on the young' - if we knew then what we know now, you're right, much more would have been packed into our days!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
Okay...I have to ask, what is a car boot? Nice work on the birdie!
ReplyDeleteI think you may call them yard sales. Originally I think it was meant for people to sell from the car boot but now they come armed with tables and clothes racks.
DeleteThat is amazing. I love the bird and your journal page that you created. Really awesome.
ReplyDeleteStunning.
