SHISHA, TOM AND RUPERT.

Thankyou for all of the comments on the last post 'rewind'. I think I shall do a rewind post every now and then as my mind goes back in time. Is it a sign of old age when we start to recall days past and think that they were better. lol

We've both been quite busy of late with our needlework.
Tom is pushing on with his tapestry, I think he only has about a quarter to do now, but not this morning as you can see.

He's slumped in the chair with the ipad and I know exactly what he's doing. lol
Face book or the stupid game we both are hooked on, Genies and Gems.
So sad, a couple of pensioners playing a silly matching game but we are both often to be found mumbling and moaning and accusing it of being fixed, lol

I have finished the first lot of Shisha embroidery pieces and am going to put them into my journal.
I'm really enjoying this craft and there are lots more designs to try out before I get pulled away to some other thing.

And here's my boy Rupert.
I love this cat to bits, he's the only boy amongst the lot of them and he's got such a lovely nature.

Off to Mcdonalds now for a burger, we haven't had one in ages so I think one now and again isn't going to hurt none.

  1. i like to play practice sets with Word on my tablet, usually have 3 games going at one time. and i play with my friend Lola.. i have accused the tablet of cheating a few times because it uses words that i have never heard of and look FAKE

  2. A burger now and then sounds perfectly fine to me. Rupert is a handsome boy!

By the way, I feel the same way you do about slug pellets. I put them down very rarely and only when I'm desperate to save something I can't save any other way. Dave and I were just saying last night that we're going to concentrate on planting slug-proof plants and forego everything else.

    1. I find Busy lizzies, Geraniums, lobelia, alyssum, lavender, and roses are okay Steve, I also have blue angel clematis, they don't touch that either.

  3. no moaning at our house when hubby is using the computer........it's full tilt screaming! He says this thing hates me. And, then proceeds to have a conniption fit.

Love the Shisha page for your journal.

Oh my Rupert, you are most handsome. I bet you are a good lap warmer too!

  5. I also enjoy a Big Mac meal once in a while. Nowadays McDonalds coffee is much better than it used to be. By the way, that's a lovely picture of Tom. He looks so comfortable and so absorbed.

  7. Rupert is so beautiful!!! And your embroidery is so stunning! You have an eye that never misses. You know exactly where to put things for the ultimate effect. Thank you so much for your uplifting comments. Nothing wrong with playing games, they keep us sharp. It is just so good to be home, isn't it? I am not supposed to eat any red meat, BUT my colon doctor said there is nothing wrong with a McDonalds burger once in awhile. So of course now I want one!!!

  8. I want to reach through the screen and pat Rupert--black and white cats may be 'a dime a dozen' but each one is beautiful. I recall wanting to try Shisha embroidery years ago--I was into embroidery
embellishments on denim shirts--never found the supplies.

  9. Rupert is a lovely boy. We had an all-black cat that looked very much like him (fluffy, with that kind face) - he lives with our son now and they are both happy about that.

    Beautiful embroidery! So well done!

I've gotten carried away with a few computer games by times :)

  20. Lovely photos Briony! And I love talking about the old days..I mentioned on Ilonas page that my 93 year old Auntie came for the day here yesterday. And all she could remember about was the 50s n 60s,so we had a great day!.She has very bad dementia so she hasnt got a clue whats going on in todays world....which is just as well.So we both loved talking about the old days..Sadly,today,she cant even remember coming here yesterday..Tom is looking good and its great when they are still interested in things! My hubby doesnt seem to have any interest in things these day, although i try my best to join him in anything we do.In fact,We are coming to Brighton on Sunday and I always take some books to a stall on the Open Market, where there is a book swop stall. They have healthy living, cookery, kids books, sewing books..you never know what will be there!.Im taking some kids books, and a couple more for others to enjoy!,And hopefully be able to swop these for one for myself !Best Wishes,xx

    1. I live in Brighton and often my friend in the south west knows more whats going on than I do. I haven't been to the open market for years, not since it was modernised but I like the sound of the book stall swop so will be visiting that when I can get down there. Hope the weather is good for you on Sunday and for us, its our first country car boot of the year.

  22. Briony, Your mirrorwork shisha embroidery is amazing! Love the spiderweb? red one, haven't seen that pattern done on shisha before. Did you use actual mirror glass pieces or the faux aluminum foil ones?
