SOD'S LAW

We have two of these cat gym's in the house but the one in the hall has seen better days and doesn't  get used  only for scratching occasionally.
We were discussing wether we should get rid of the one in the hall and buy a nice little table to go under the mirror with a small lamp on, it would look nice in the evenings.

Enter Rupert.

Isn't it sod's law that as soon as we talk about getting rid of the thing Rupert decides he would very much like to use it again.

Nonchalantly laying there with one paw casually resting on an upright and the other carelessly dangling down, his tail doing a very gentle sway from side to side, he is daring us to get rid of it. lol

  3. It's funny how cats like to dangle their back leg over the edge. Rupert looks like he might fall off.

  10. They say that pets take after their owners and Rupert is clearly an awkward, contrary creature!

    1. Hi Debi, we noticed that Princess was limping but didn't take too much notice. Rowan is often limping and the next day she is okay. we knew that there was something wrong this time though as she couldn't put her foot to the ground and was trying to keep it up as she walked.
I would say just get it seen to in case.
I really hope its not broken. It is breaking my heart to see Princess in this cast, she's so miserable.
We have another 3 weeks to go before going back but I am going to talk to the vet and see if we could possibly see him in 2 weeks time, that will mean that she has had the cast on for 8 weeks altogether. fingers crossed.

    2. Thank you so much Briony. It does look broken to me,because the...backward knee bit on his back leg is sticking out more than the other leg.Ive checked to see if he had a sharp object in his paw,but I cant feel anything. He has got no interest in going to the catflap, which Im glad.He has eaten a couple of times and likes to drink from the tap in the kitchen..but when he went to jump up on the kitchen worktop he fell backwards. So I lifted him up and he drank his usual amount.I lifted him back down but he cried in pain, which broke my heart.Ive put him on his blanket with some fleeces around him and he goes back to sleep. The 4 other cats seem to know that something is wrong because they are all settled around him but are not going up to him...but they all seem very quiet and seem to know that he is in pain.Thank you so much for replying Briony,xx

    3. How do you think he did it?
Princess wouldn't let us touch her leg so it sounds like it may be a break. I know how you feel, I am in pieces still every time I look at her.
Good luck with the vet on Monday, hope you can get an early appointment,
Don't feed her any more tonight and no food in the morning just in case she has to have an anesthetic.

    4. We have a three cornered old fashioned linen basket / box in the bathroon and it was tipped over, we think that one of them jumped on it and it fell on her leg. She was awful for ambushing the others when they came out of the bathroom ( the litter tray in in there behind the door) I think there was a bit of a scuffle. Otherwise I have no idea how she did it. I have an email address if you want to get in touch. thecrowsnest55@yahoo.com

    5. Thanks Briony,he is pretty much the same this morning.Just sleeping alot with the other cats still around him.He hasnt been toilet at all even though his clean litter tray is right by his side.Ive noticed that when he has tried to walk he isnt putting that foot down.We are going to the vets first thing tomorrow morning.Ive not got a clue how he could have done it,but he does jump up the fences so maybe he fell then.Thank you for your help and I will let you know how we get on,xx

    6. Hi Briony, sorry to hijack your post, but I just wanted to let you know that its was a abcess from a cat bite.Hes happier now its been treated but got to keep in for a week cause its open wound now. There is a nasty cat thats moved in our close about 6 months ago.It attacks humans and other animals,so Im presuming its that thats done it.So relived it wasnt a break though.Hope Princess can have her splint off soon, poor little mite...and I hope that Rupert is still enjoying his rediscovered love for his cat gym,xx
