UP, UP AND AWAY

We have finally got around to having stair lifts fitted for both of the stair cases.
We live in a Maisonette on two floors and so two stair lifts were needed, one in from the street and one up to the craft room and third bedroom.
Some days are better than others for Tom and his breathing, but on bad days its an effort for him to make the stairs.

Here it is up on the top floor along from the workroom.
Nice and quiet and just right for the job.
Today we are having the second one being installed for the bottom stairs.
This is going to make life a lot easier for both of us.
Look who's got in on the picture, Willow, my craft room buddy.

Meanwhile I am still trying to find a bit of time for my needlework.
There seems always to be something taking me away from it lately but some progress has been made on the Shi Sha daisies, I only have one left to do and then comes the filling in with sequins and beads.

I am also working on another sampler for the journal and found this rather novel fringe.

  2. They are amazing and make life so much easier. My Mam bought one for my Dad because he was having to go on his hands and knees to get up the stairs. My Mam is nearly 85 and uses it her self now because of really bad feet. She puts the clean washing on her knees and wizzes up!.Only trouble is,when her Great grandkids visit, they keep wanting to go to the toilet upstairs, every 5 mins so that they can have a go!,xx

  6. those are nice lifts. I've always told friends who said something about our stairs when we get old that we could put something similar in if necessary.

    Happy weekend.

  7. so happy for both of you that you have the new stair chair, I am sending your post to a friend in Atlanta who has a hosue with 3 sets of stairs and she has much the same problem your husband does, breathing is hard for her. her home has no bathroom on the first floor. this is what she needs

  8. There was one in the nursing home my mother moved into.
Much to the staff's annoyance she called it The Wall of Death machine - the management were not happy when she sked for a seat belt to be fitted. A staff member would walk the stairs facing the person while it was being used but mum felt that wasn't good enough.
So she got their local politician involved and after a bit of 'discussion' they did so.
Couldn't keep the smile off her face each time she used it!

  9. So will you be stealing rides up and down as well? I can see it now :)

Seriously, those chair lifts are a wonderful thing. They keep people in their homes longer, where they are happiest.

  16. That should be a great help, not having to climb all those stairs. I wonder if the kitties will ride on it too. If they do, please take pictures.

    1. They don't like the look of it at the moment Pat, but I'm sure once they know its not going to bite they'll probably sit on it, just when we want it and you know what will happen? w'll be climbing the stairs so as not to disturbe them, little angels. lol

  17. How fast do the stairlifts go? I have heard that you can crank them up to 35mph but Tom will need to wear a crash helmet. WHEEEEEEEEEE! CRRRUNCH! ...Oh dear!

  18. Great idea-stairs are so exhausting on a bad day for me.I end up using both hands to drag myself upon the handrail which is loose. Will you be sitting on Toms lap ? x

    1. Sadly not Flis, the chair only hold up to 20 stone, lol
I know what you mean about dragging yourself up the stairs, I often go up on all fours if my joints are playing up.
