For most of the Summer when we go to the car boots we collect jigsaws to do during the winter months.
Generally we only pay £1-£2 for them and they get stacked in the spare cupboard in the box room.
This cupboard goes right back and so you can see there's a lot of jigsaws there to get through.
I am hoping that the action of finding pieces and having to be nimble enough to fit them is going to stave of the dreaded. Also it keeps us busy in the evenings when the tv is rubbish, that means most evenings as we do not follow soaps and there's not much else we like.
One little helper, Willow, contemplating life. lol, and Tom unaware that he's being photographed.
Just to the right of him you can see the edge of my boxes of yarn.
Well, I've just had a clear out as in order to use it all I should have to live until I was about 100 years old.
Every time I went into the room I felt as though I should be doing something with it, now I won't have that feeling, phew..
It's all going to the charity Emmaus, this is a charity for the homeless and people released from prison who have nowhere to go.
Will I regret getting rid of it all? I don't think so.
My kids and I used to do this every summer. I have tried recently to sit and do puzzles but I just can't do it anymore. Plus with Lily Bit (cat) my puzzle pieces will be all over the place. HAHA..Have fun and enjoy your puzzels.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby enjoys a jigsaw, the harder the better. I had a big yarn clear out at the beginning of the year and haven’t regretted it at all, sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees as they say xx
ReplyDeletegreat idea getting them at the sales and perfect for winter fun... I like the big board he is using. and the at guard is adorable. yay for the donating of yarn.. I agree about TV rubbish. we find it harder and harder to find anything we enjoy. right now we are watching singing and dancing shows...
ReplyDeleteI know it is a hard thing to do; at least it is for me. But afterward I feel so much better and unburdened. Willow is so beautiful! I think you will have plenty to do this winter!
ReplyDeleteI'm taking my jigsaw with me when we move it may be a while but they will get done.
ReplyDeleteWell at least it's going to charity! I love the idea of you and Tom sitting together and working a puzzle. Dave and I watch TV and sometimes it seems like such a waste of time!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you've been. Was getting worried about you 2.
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you keep kitties off of your puzzle? My 2 think the paper is for them to lay on when we are reading. Before when we did a puzzle. I had pieces all over the place. Had a puzzle that we never found all the pieces for.
Can't remember the last time I did a jigsaw puzzle....we used to do them all the time as kids/teens living at home.
ReplyDeletePuzzles are a good way to pass the time when its cold out. I have a few here I might pull out this winter. It's been a long time since I've done one
ReplyDeleteIt always feels better when one has given away surplus to a charity and that one sounds especially good.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't done a jigsaw puzzle for years - the cats would be all over them :) You obviously have made a deal with Willow to leave you alone, ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat is a great board your husband is using to do the puzzle on. Good idea.
Sometimes the weight of my undone crafts is heavy, too, but I haven't been able to give anything up yet. I salute you for doing so!
My 93 year old friend, Joyce, always has a puzzle on the go. Some of them are so complicated.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't Tom and Willow's faces have been blurred as you did not gain their permission before snapping their photo?
ReplyDeleteBuzz off spammer. Sick of seeing you.
