Glad to report that Rupert seems okay, he is eating very small amounts of chicken often and seems okay in himself. The wound is clean and his temperature was fine when he went on Sunday to the vet.
6 days of trundling back and forth to the vets had us pretty much on our knees on Monday.
Now Tom has worsened with a cough that leaves him very, very short of breath.
Rang the consultant and she wants an x-ray done for Thursday, a lung function test done and it seems we are to get a visit from the Respiratory team as our actual appointment isn't until the middle of March.
At least they were quick to respond.
So todays order of play is Dr in the morning for something to help the cough and on to get the x-ray done.
Never a dull moment in this house.
Meanwhile in the craft room I am itching to have a go at this.
Making cord out of fabric.
I have a box full of fabric scraps that I could do this, its so simple you could do it in front of the tv in the evening and then your imagination can go wild with things you could make with it.
Excuse me for being so forward but that green nail varnish does not suit you! I hope the respiratory team can give Tom a big helping hand. It must be awful struggling to breathe when you haven't been jogging or climbing mountains. Does he have oxygen in the flat?
ReplyDeleteLast time he was assessed it would not have made any difference, it's difficult to explain, it depends on how the lungs are affected. Things are gradually deteriorating as expected and its not nice. I'm hoping they can just give him something to help his breathing this time.
DeleteWe shall see. Cherish health while you have it, we all take it for granted don't we?
We certainly do Briony. Being in good health is rather like being rich.
Deleteso sorry for the new ongoing health issues. Prayers for a good visit and that they will find a way to relieve his breathing problems. I understand there is no cure, but hoping for a little relief. agree with you about cherish health while we have it, blink of an eye can change our lives for ever
ReplyDeleteGlad about Rupert, concerned with you about Tom, and I love the *beautiful* cording! I love having things to keep my hands busy while in front of the tv. My current amusement is adult coloring right now, using my little lap desk and the alcohol markers I got for Christmas from my oldest. I will keep Tom in my prayers. Love, Andrea
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope Tom's cough turns out to be just a passing inconvenience. And I'm glad to hear Rupert is doing better. That cord idea is creative! I can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that things soon improve for Tom.Such a worry for you both.We keep saying to each other we are well at the moment .Cherish it.So many of our friends and relatives are falling ill.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about Tom, hope you manage to get something sorted. I love that rag thing!
ReplyDeleteDid Tom ever go to Pulmonary Physio? They teach you how to control your breathing which really helps when you are struggling. I recently went through being assessed for Oxygen therapy but although my oxygen levels drop when active they come back up again when I rest. The Pulmonary lot tell you how to manage that. Well worth it, no panics then.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the x-ray done today, lung capacity tomorrow and the consultant will get in touch on Thursday. His oxygen it 95 sitting but like you probably lessens with movement.
DeleteWe have been assessed for oxygen before and they said it was not needed.
We are probably getting a visit from the respiratory team once the consultant has the results and I will ask them about Physio.
The cough is the main irritant because once he starts coughing he can't breath.
The laugh is that he has never smoked and has always kept fit, just shows you never know what's around the corner.
Fingers crossed for Tom. Do you have a link for how to make the cord please as am intrigued as to how it's done now!
ReplyDeleteArilx
If you put making fabric twine into google it will give you videos on how to make it.
DeleteI hope Tom gets something to help with his breathing. It is terrible to struggle to breath.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Rupert is doing well so far.
You are so right that we need to always bear in mind our good fortune if we have our health.
Oh my, that's a lot going on. I do hope they can help Tom.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric cord is pretty. There would be so many possibilities for that
I'm thinking necklace maybe?
DeleteIt is good that you are getting prompt service from the medical people - I hope they can give Tom something for the cough.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about Tom! Please continue to let us know about the tests and appointments as they come. I know what you mean! We have a very busy social life, which is all doctor appointments! Sometimes three or four a week. It will wear you out, both physically and mentally. First you wait for the tests. Then go home and wait for the results. I am praying for Tom! I don't know how you would make this cord, you are so very clever!!
ReplyDeleteHow scary not being able to get your breath. And how scary for you to watch. Hope and pray they can find something to help Tom. Glad that Rupert is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about health worries - so true that we don't appreciate our health until something goes wrong. Just as well that we don't know what is round the corner for us. Wishing you and family the best.
ReplyDeleteI hope Tom get the help he needs to make breathing easier. Glad Rupert is ok now. What a great idea for old clothes that can't be worn anymore. I certainly beats just throwing them away.
