A ROUGH SCRUFFY BOY

We've treated ourselves to an electric reclining sofa.
The old sofa we'd had for four years was lovely and in the shop was comfy, but as so often happens, was not comfy once in the house. lol
Every evening there was lots of adjusting of cushions and even the cats didn't want to sleep on it.
We've kept it and put it in the window in the hopes that they will continue to use it as a scratching post instead of the new one.

The new one is pure heaven and I reckon a good night's sleep could be had on it.  BUT...
There are others in the house who have also found it comfy.   Guess who?

We have taken out an insurance so that we are covered for the scratches to be repaired and if in the event that a whole panel should be affected they will replace.
I told the man in the shop that the repair man will earn his keep with us and he replied that it didn't matter how many times he has to come up.
There are already a couple of marks, but we were expecting that.

Here we are, a couple of old lumpers enjoying a bit of a recline and showing leopard print fleece to full effect.
All ruined by the yellow socks sticking out of the end but my feet were nippy this afternoon. lol

  2. I have got the very same one plus a chair that Hubby spends most of his life on,lol.Ive had mine about 3 years now and the cats havent bothered scratching it..I think because you could smell the leather very strongly when we first bought it and may be that put them off.The settee is very very comfy and to be honest I can sleep better on that than what I do in the bed!!xx

  4. That is a handsome sofa. I didn't know insurance for furniture existed - what a great idea.

You two look very comfy, although the kitty looks perhaps MORE comfy, as he takes up all of what he surely feels is his fair share of the space - lol What a pretty fellow he is!

  6. A cat between your legs? That could easily incite vulgar remarks but not from me as I am too gentlemanly for that Mrs Slocombe.

  7. This is a fabulous picture! And your socks match the leopard skin throw, which is beautiful. We bought a reclining couch last year, and love it!! It is the best for naps, too. I don't know what we ever did without it. Ours plugs into the wall, but also has backup batteries. I like the fabric on yours, it looks like fur will not collect on it. We got our fabric insured, but not the workings of the couch.

  10. I now have yellow socks but they will not come out until January.. love your sofa. we have had our leather sofas for 9 years, they need to be replaced but per BOB they do not. he sees nothing wrong with sitting in a sag. I have a pillow in mine. they look ok, just not as comfy... I did not know there is furniture insurance but it doesn't surprise me.

  11. Oh, that looks so comfy! I do a lot of sleeping in my recliner, covered up in a fleecy throw and a cat between my legs. I don't have classy yellow socks, though!
That is so nice! I hope you and Tom (and the kitties) have many years of enjoyable relaxation on your new sofa.

  14. Some years ago I purchased a leather love seat, hassock and recliner, thinking that surely, the cats wouldn't scratch them. We are now on a second generation of cat damage and the leather rather than looking 'comfortably shabby' is quite shredded in places. There are times when my love of cats and their companionship is tempered by the fact that we can't keep anything 'nice.'

  18. That's the problem, isn't it, you sit on furniture in the shop and think it's comfy but it's not until you get it in your own house and sit on it for a period of time that you really know how it feels. You both look very happy with the new sofa though.

  20. Cats always seek out the best places to curl up and it's usually on their human's favourite side of the sofa. You look very comfortable with your new one. We have a chair which looked very comfortable but isn't as cosy as it looks:)

  21. Oh Briony you look so happy on your new sofa.....and so does your furry friend! I have a reclining chair too and some of our cats adopt the same position......all well until I need the loo only I don't like to disturb them! x

  22. Looks comfy! I had no idea it was possible to buy insurance for upholstery damage by cats. That seems like it couldn't possibly be profitable for a furniture retailer!

  23. My husband left me last year after 25 years of marriage (he turned 50). It has been the most difficult year of my life, but full of lessons about myself and what life and marriage are all about. I am passionate about marriage and i didn't give up on my husband. resides in USA, I entered online in search of advice on how i can amend my marriage while i was at work. I saw so many positive reviews and nice feed back about how a Doctor called Robinson.buckler@yahoo.com has been wonderful with his work. I gave a shot to make contact with him via his Email and he assured me that my marriage will be peaceful and i believed in his words. 16 hours after he finished work, my husband came back home pleading and now, we are living peacefully again. Get in contact with him if you need any help.
