You're not the only one, Briony - I tried to make mine private some months ago, to deter a couple of people I didn't want reading. I couldn't do it either! Welcome back anyway.
Briony all my comments are awaiting approval. So I delete all the rubbish and publish the 'real' ones. You dont have to read them and get upset. If they are anonymous just check the end if there is a name then read it. It could be someone without a blog but has no evil intent.
So lovely to read you are back:) I love reading your posts and thank you for the time involved in blogging, it can be time consuming. Welcome back Briony♥ Linda
You're not potty. Spam and trolls are a big problem, it is not nice to spend ages sorting all the comments out. people don't like the word verification thingy I have on mine, and my comment count has dropped because people can't be bothered with it, but it has saved my sanity. I'm surprised that some bloggers allow anyone to comment anonymously, and don't have moderation on either.
I wouldn't know how to go about making my blog private. I use comment moderation and rarely get spam or anonymous comments and if I do, I just delete them before they can make it to the blog. I basically don't trust the internet :D
I am so happy to see you back. Unwanted comments can be a bother. I delete anything that I don't want to appear on my blog. Sometimes trying to figure out all the tech stuff can be very frustrating too.
I have become more active with the delete button when it comes to sorting out comments. Even regular readers who have a bad day and say something rude or dismissive about how I live my life, will get the chop.
Briony, I also prefer blogging to Facebook... although I do use Facebook to keep up with family and friends that post there... and also to download pictures of the grandkids! Outside of saying Happy Holidays or replying to a family comment, I rarely use it. And you can set it up that your posts and pics only go to your family and friends. So Facebook has its uses. But as with any internet medium, it would be best to proceed with caution.
Glad you're back! I was horrified to see that you had closed your blog. I had almost decided there was no good reason to even follow the few remaining blogs on my reading list without you. Happy Day! We love you, Briony!!!
if all you want to do is stop the spam, like the one above Anonymous wrote is remove the ability for Anonymous to post. or review comments before you release them.. if you need help email me
I echo what others said above. You can block spam comments in various ways -- it's just a matter of changing a few settings. Maybe one of your younger relatives can help! I have my blog set so that any comment on a post older than five days has to be approved. Comments on new posts don't need approval but I just delete the spam. I usually get to it pretty quickly!
So glad you are back thanks for accepting my friends request although I felt really awful for asking, but still wanted to see your fantastic embroidery and those darling cats.
so good to have you back, I am rather lazy re blogs these days well the past 2 years but trying to get more active and love reading about the cat antics etc
Glad you're going to be here! It isn't the same on Facebook as there isn't the coziness (sp?) that there is on the Blog. Here it's like reading a letter from a good friend. Hope you both are doing well health wise. That new sofa looks wonderful!!!
My husband left me last year after 25 years of marriage (he turned 50). It has been the most difficult year of my life, but full of lessons about myself and what life and marriage are all about. I am passionate about marriage and i didn't give up on my husband. resides in USA, I entered online in search of advice on how i can amend my marriage while i was at work. I saw so many positive reviews and nice feed back about how a Doctor called Robinson.buckler@yahoo.com has been wonderful with his work. I gave a shot to make contact with him via his Email and he assured me that my marriage will be peaceful and i believed in his words. 16 hours after he finished work, my husband came back home pleading and now, we are living peacefully again. Get in contact with him if you need any help.
I am Sandra john by name and i am located in Texas ,I recently saw a testimony about a spell caster of some sort in a blog I visit for relationship and dating counseling problems because i had been having serious problems with my boyfriend and we had been dating for 1 year, He just suddenly changed, He wasn\'t returning my calls, He started cheating, He was hurting me in so many ways i never thought possible and I just thought I should try this spell caster called Great Matatan Spell Cos there are so many good comments about him on the website, But before i could read his post,I have already contacted many spell caster that cheated me out of my hard earned money without given me result. But when i meet this spell caster out of desperation of some sort.I decided to contact them to please render there help to me, I explained all the problems that i was going through to him and he told me all i needed to do to get this spell castes. At first everything felt dreamy and unbelievable, Their consultations and solution was a little bit easy and strange and I was scared a little cos I had read and heard lots of stories of fake spell casters, scams and i never really believed in magic. I played along with a little hope and faith and I was sent some few stuffs after everything and it worked like a miracle, everything went to a whole new direction, it was and is amazing. I guess it was all good faith that made me read That particular post that faithful day.I hope they could help other people too like they did to me. I did a little and I got everything I wanted and wished for, My husband, My family and my life back You can contact Great Matatan Spell at: great.( matatanspell@yahoo.com CALL/WHATS-APP:+233 20 926 0493 ) because he changed my life.

ReplyDeleteWordpress isn't much better- I tried it here and got confused as well.
Maybe try word verification like many bloggers do, try it for a while and see how you go.
