Tom is 81 years old next month and the kids have clubbed together to buy him a play station for his Birthday.
Yesterday our son Matt came up and fixed it all up for us. We ourselves wouldn't have had any idea what to do so he did a good job.
What on earth does an 81 year old man want with a play station you may ask.
Well with the illness that Tom has he is getting more and more short of breath and unable to walk the distances he used to. He spends more time sitting doing jigsaws, tapestry , reading etc.
There will not be any shooting and erratic button pushing games, He's going to be playing golf and snooker etc on it, and I think he will enjoy it.
This type of game should be nice and gentle just lining up his shots so I won't need to go out and get him any camouflage gear, lol.
Maybe just a peaked hat and some checked trousers. lol
I still use my excise disk on my Wii
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Hope he enjoys his birthday when the big day arrives. Lots of cake???
ReplyDeleteYou're never too old for games. Hope he enjoys it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super present.I still play Hay Day on my I pad.I convince myself it is good for my memory and it passes some time.I am sure Tom will love it.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of be said for the mental stimulation of games. We hope he enjoys it. (You might sneak in the odd game or two - no?)
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see those checkered trousers. what a super great idea for a gift.. i wonder if there is one where they can drive a race car or drag race..... bob needs something to do,
ReplyDeleteMy son set his spare one up for me after my op. Trouble is the medication I was on made me groggy and my concentration was shot to pieces. He came and took it away to set up for a disabled little boy. The littlun loves it. I bet Tom will spend many a happy hour playing golf now.
ReplyDeleteOh yes... video games are for any age, most definitely! Once your hubby gets used to the controllers and such (there are games which don't require fancy controller-work), I'm sure he will love the boredom buster of video games. I know my husband does. My husband loves a soccer-type game, played with cars, called "Rocket League". He plays it every single night, I kid you not. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteGood idea!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely idea I'm sure he'll have lots of fun with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift, he will have many happy hours with it! I hope you have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteVery thoughtful gift. Hope he enjoys it! My husband is into Mind-bender games/puzzles. It is the only time he will sit for hours working it out. I shall probably get him another one this Christmas. keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd checkered trousers - sex-AY! lol
I hope he has his glove in his back pocket! Arilx
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Personally I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with a Playstation, but I can't wait to hear how it works out for you. Maybe you'll inspire me to get one. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll be challenging you to a dual before long. Its a great gift that will bring many hours of amusement.
ReplyDeleteI'm normally not a 'game' person, but during this pandemic, I may be moving to my island on Animal Crossing permanently. So there's a good possibility that you may become a golf widow.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back. I was worried when the post about your daughter disappeared! Hope she is getting on OK ?
ReplyDeleteWhen my father-in-law was 80, my husband and the family decided to give him golf clubs?? He had never played before and I was the very bad person who said what a ridiculous idea. It turned out I was right as , unsurprisingly, they were never used by him. I think one of my sons ended up with the clubs.
I hope that Tom gets lots of pleasure from his game machine.
That's a good gift! Hours of entertainment. Zip used to have a Wii and he played a fishing game on it. All he But when we get older, we need all the mind activity we can get. Hope Tom and you both have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, just hoping he will get the hang of the controls, lol. He's not the most nimble fingered person. Matt assures me he will be okay so we'll see.
