After a bit of a break I'm back.
First I would like to say how sorry I was to learn that Jill from 'Land of the Big Sky' blog had passed away. I know she was having problems but she was such a trooper and it seemed to happen so suddenly, I cannot get her off of my mind and will miss her beautiful paintings.
Sometimes in these horrible times it's hard to keep positive. Some days I don't want to do anything and then I give myself a good talking to and get on with it. Yesterday I did almost nothing and so today I have got up and got on.
The Fabric Journal is almost finished, it's been a long slog sometimes to keep motivated but I'm glad I have now that I can see the end.
Front and back just need the backing now to be complete.
I have put eyelets in the spine and will thread ribbon through to keep the whole lot together.
The back and front are yet to be done but here are the pages waiting to go.
These are the eyelets I have used and recommend them.
They are able to go through quite a thickness.
I have a couple more pages complete, the cat head and the willow and a couple of pages downstairs to complete for the back of these but the bulk of it is done.
If in the future I want to add more pages the eyelet method enables me to add them with no bother.
Off to the seafront now to relax with a take away coffee.

I'm so sorry about your friend, Briony. Yes, it's sometimes hard these days to stay positive but your beautiful journal sure does help! It's gorgeous. ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work! I am especially in awe of the kitty head, but it's all wonderful. Maybe when spring is truly here, you will feel more upbeat. By March, I am ready for a change, and get a "dragged down" feeling if the cold continues.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous journal and I'm glad you mentioned Jill because we weren't sure what the form was for writing about other bloggers. We felt very emotional when we read her family's post announcing her death. It seemed she had been posting about her happy place and the beauty in her world and was suddenly gone. ReplyDeleteYour fabric journal is a most ingenious creative idea. From the title, we wondered what this could be but now see it as a wonderfully tactile book which can be leafed through and gazed upon with fond memories of its creation and, no doubt, the fragments that have been collected together to make the whole.
The one you show looks very delicate and fine, clearly the result of many hours of careful and detailed work. However, we cannot help but think that a fabric journal would be a lovely present for a small child if there were no removal parts on each of the 'pages'. Surely, it would be a delightful first book to be played with and even chewed a little!!
And, what amazing designs you have used on each of your fabric pages. The composition and colours really highlight your creative mind. A work of art indeed.
Hello Jane, this book is for my daughter and she will pass it on to my Grandson both of whom will I know look after it. You were right, it has taken so many hours to make but worth every minute.

One day, many years from now, you will follow Jill to The Land of the Big Sky. I hope that you will make a point of leaving your beautiful and unique fabric journal to your grandson Tom. Accidentally, it is a faithful reflection of who you are and of your zest for life.
