This morning I bleached the front section of my hair. I've been wanting to do it for a long time but just didn't have the get up and go to do it.
I've always had my hair blonde and thought that grey would look just as good, but no, it doesn't, so I got out the stuff and did it.
I was 75 last week and maybe I should give in to the age thing and be natural, but I believe that if you look in the mirror and feel good then that has to be good for everything else in your life.
You can't be of any good to anyone unless you are happy yourself, that is my belief.
When things go wrong you need to be strong and believe in yourself first to cope with the stresses and strains of life.
That may sound selfish but it's not.
We are under a lot of pressure each day here with Tom not being well and if I look like I've just got up it would affect both of us.
Even though it is a struggle for Tom to get washed and dressed each day, he does it and feels so much better when he looks in the mirror.
On a lighter note.
Look who doesn't fit into the basket.
Rupert long legs.
Have a good weekend.
Briony

You should absolutely do whatever you want with your hair....age is irrelevant! Arilx
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, Briony. I've been dragging my heels about dyeing my hair again - I always have done it myself, but have more or less given up during lockdown....I thought what's the point, I hardly go anywhere or see anybody. But you've given me the oomph I need....it will make me feel better! And that's good enough reason to do it.
ReplyDeletesmiling now over Rubpert the long legs cat.. sweet. your hair looks good, and i agree 100 percent. be happy with your self when you look in the mirror. I was watching a make up video on youtube, even though i have not put any on for over a year, with a mask who cares. but she showed a tip on how to use cover up on blemishes. now for the past 4 days, when i brush my teeth, i use the brush to cover 3 of those age spots that i hate. now bob doesn't have to look at them and i can look in the mirror without sighing.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is lovely. You don’t look 75 anyway. I agree with the looking after yourself. It is important as stresses and strains in life can take their toll.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise to see you. I totally agree with everything you have said. You look so good, I don't see any wrinkles, and your skin is so pretty and fresh looking; you look so much younger than 75! I like your glasses too, they go perfectly with your hair.
ReplyDeleteYou and your hair look great! You're right -- it makes all the difference in the world to get up and get dressed and take care of ourselves, even if we're staying home.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a nice flattering colour Briony. I have given up dyeing mine as the root regrowth happens so fast on me. It gets a bit expensive and my hair ends up feeling like straw.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in that photo Briony. Looking good does make you feel good x
ReplyDeleteI do like and agree with your personal philosophy Briony :-) Your new hair style looks very attractive indeed. I certainly don't bother as much as I used to but I try to look nice when I give my online classes... at least waist up LOL! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely marvelous, my dear Briony!! I love your light hair... it is you! Yes, do whatever it takes to feel good about yourselves in these tumultuous times. It makes all the difference. And you do NOT-NOT-NOT look 75 years young, not in the least. You must have found the Fountain of Youth!! ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteNo need to be apologetic, you look good, good for you!
ReplyDeleteBriony, you look absoluttely beautiful. There is nothing wrong with vanity at all. I still put lipstick on despite wearing a face mask.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks really nice! I have dark hair and the moment the grey starts to show around my face I look and feel old! I completely agree with your post that taking care of yourself and looking the best you can makes all the difference in how you feel! Your beauty inside shines out for everyone to see!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Briony... do what feels right for you. As for myself, my gray hair is mostly white... and shoulder length these pandemic days (pulled back into a ponytail or braided). My ponytail has a bit of gray in it, but that doesn't bother me. So I'm happy with my mostly white hair. But I am thinking that I may bring my bangs back. Love your new pic! And Rupert looks very comfortable!
ReplyDeleteYou look great and as others have said don't look 75. Beautiful skin and hair.
ReplyDeleteAny boost to our mental health, in whatever form that might take, is a good thing! I (and I am sure many millions of us) can't wait until the hairdressers are open again!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
That's a nice picture of you Briony and cool spectacle frames too! You look like a newspaper columnist or an editor who might appear on a late night news programme reviewing tomorrow's newspapers. Belated birthday greetings re. your 75th! Onwards to 80!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous. I totally agree with you about feeling good about yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks nice. I have a colour sitting in the bathroom window sill for the past three months. I must get round to using it. Went a bit mad and bought a purple metallic one. Haven't a clue how it will turn out.
ReplyDeleteDo it Ilona, who cares if it make you feel good what colour it is. I've had my hair all colours in the past, lol

You look beautiful! I thought your hair was naturally that lovely shade. With the pandemic and not going out and seeing other people it's hard to keep the interest in self care. So many good things have gone by the wayside. It would be nice to just feel 'normal' again.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard when the person you love has severe health problems. It's good that Tom is trying to do as much as he can for himself. It seems as if Zip does less each day. He doesn't have the breath or the strength. It's really upsetting when I think of all the tings we used to do. For myself, I just want to be able to walk without having to stop every ten paces and catch my breath.
Happy Birthday to you! I just had my 74th. I'm catching up to you. Ha-ha! I can't believe I'm so darn old!
Love those Rupert legs! Glad the dear boy is doing well. Curling up in a basket seems like a great way to spend the day.
You are blessed with beautiful hair and the colour is really flattering. I gave up dying mine a few years ago but I do like a good cut and style, which is greatly needed at the moment. I will be so glad once the hairdressers open up again.
ReplyDeleteThat looks brilliant.Living in Wales I got my hair cut last Friday. What a relief but no colour for me.My hair is white and has been for years.
ReplyDeleteI dye my hair too to cover grey. My mum always used to say "if you leave it grey, people treat you as grey". I knew what she meant.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday. I totally agree with everything you just said. You look lovely. I know exactly what you mean about loved ones trying to do things for themselves but it being such an effort for them, but they do feel better for it.
