Well here we are again and another Easter over.
Ours was fraught with internet problems and we were without access all over the Easter.
I wrote in my last post about the wheel going around on the internet and I ended up ringing Virgin.
A new hub was ordered and it arrived on Easter Saturday. Tom removed the old one and connected the new. Ever have this feeling that things just aren't going to go smoothly?
I just knew we would have problems.
It wouldn't connect and so another phone call had a man on the line connecting it for us, told us to leave it for half hour and wait for lights to steady. Well they didn't. Another phone call informed us that an engineer would call on Sunday morning, they didn't, another phone call said 'sorry' they will call this afternoon, they didn't, another phone call informed us that they didn't work on Sunday's and so we had spent the entire day inside for nothing.
On Monday they said that an Engineer would have to make a house call but not until Wednesday.
He duly came yesterday and we are now up and running again.
Boy, did I miss that internet.
It's not until you haven't got it that you realise how important it is in life.
Anyway, I'm happy now to be able to shop, download books, play scrabble and do all the other things that I naively thought I could do without. lol
Virgin sound just like BT! 18 months ago we had no end of problems with our internet and had to constantly ring them, we got told different things each time, it was obvious they were just trying to fob us off with whatever story they thought would pacify us, I actually caught them out in a lie a couple of times. 2 or 3 engineer appointments weren't kept - I went to the Chief Exec's office in the end and finally got things sorted. It's just a shame that we have to go to such lengths and through so much aggravation to get the service we pay for! Welcome back anyway, I hope your internet goes smoothly from now on. Your work is beautiful, as always.
ReplyDeleteMy Easter was much the same as any other day. I didn't have a chocolate egg, I had a KitKat instead. Your colourful doodling adds another dimension to the pretty embroidery.
ReplyDeleteAnyone would think you lived in darkest Africa! Glad you were reconnected eventually. Just love your embroidery.
ReplyDeleteWe drop Virgin and went with EE getting a deal through my mobile phone account. Love your work, it's very pretty.
ReplyDeletePretty work.Nothing more frustrating than sitting in all day and no one comes or calls.
ReplyDeletewe went through this about 2 years ago and if found I am addicted to having internet. ours was only 3 days though, yours just went on and on. happy play time, enjoy
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful Briony. It never occurred to me to colour my fabric before embroidering it.
ReplyDeleteGlad things are sorted for you now - it is so frustrating when things don't go as planned! happy scrabbling and shopping!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes

Welcome back - the break appears to have advanced the embroidery - which is a enviable as ever. I know skills are acquired with practice, and good design is often about not showing off the experiments that didn't work, but there is some talent that goes beyond practice and is enhanced by a good eye for what might work. That can't be practiced - you just have it.
ReplyDeleteOh Briony, your stitching is exquisite as always. Beautiful!! And I'm so sorry for your internet woes! It sounds like you have much more patience than I would have had. My first "answer" when some piece of technology goes amok is to "toss it out the window" so I'm afraid my internet would probably be history... even though I might be sorry for "the tossing" afterward. I'm so glad you're "with us" once again. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is always my answer at first, toss the b thing out, but then common sense comes in and I realise that I can't so without the damn thing.

Well, I'm glad you got it all ironed out, anyway. Why on Earth did they schedule someone to come on Sunday when the engineers don't work on Sunday?!?! That makes no sense at all. I'd have been livid!
ReplyDeleteI was furious Steve, I hate lies and that is what they told me. I can't take it out on the operator as she/he is probably working for pennies and goes by a script but I guess we just have to learn to live with the way things work these days.

With the internet down you must have missed checking out the blokes on sexyyorkshirehunks.com. Funny that they haven't asked me to be on there for a few years now.
ReplyDeleteI do feel for you Briony! Don't believe for a minute this only happens in the UK! I am so sick of Vodafone Spain and their lies. I have been waiting over a week for them to get back to me about the weak security on their router settings and having asked them to upgrade it. They said they would phone back the next day and it is nigh on a week! It isn't the first time to get such a miserable response from their customer service either! Really impressive embroidery the colours highlight the bead work nicely. Take care Amanda x
ReplyDeleteLOVE your stitching. Such pretty colors and design. Very creative. So sorry you had all those internet problems. I relate, we all use it for so many different things. For blogging for sure, reading the news, playing games, ordering groceries on line, etc etc. Glad you're back to operational.

I’m glad you got it sorted in the end, I would have been furious waiting around all day for nothing. Your embroidery is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour needlework is simply gorgeous!! You have both the talent and the vision to match colors and patterns so beautifully! I am so glad to see you, and that all is fixed and well now! I have had my own problems with the computer and finally had to have an entire new hard drive installed. So now I have an old computer with new insides!
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hate having internet issues. I amdit that I am addicted and hate going without it.
How irksome when the internet isn't working! I get very stressed. Shouldn't, but do! It's my window on the world! I just LOVE LOVE the colored background on your stitchery. And the beaded chain stitch, I can see why it's a favorite. Just lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI always have my mobile phone for the internet if the wifi isn't working. I couldn't imagine life without the internet.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodnes! Just when I think your embroidery can't get any more beautiful! Coloring in with those promarker pens really makes such a difference! Gorgeous!
