CROSSWORD ERROR

When we visit our lovely café we buy a newspaper.  It's the only time we buy one as I don't like the doom and gloom in them.

Tom reads the paper and I have the puzzle pullout page to do the crossword, then when he's read the paper I pass the crossword over to him to complete the hard one's that I couldn't do and I skim the paper.

No wonder he couldn't finish it.

The clue was

The colonel's name in the game of cluedo.

I'd put CUSTARD, lol

  5. We haven't bought a paper in I don't know how long. I used to read the front page, the garden section, and the comics. That's about it. Don't miss it. It's strange as much as I like words and writing... but crosswords never interested me. But I would have known Colonel CCCustard ! (ha!)

  9. I did that crossword question recently..... But I got it right..haha. !
We get the paper everyday and copy the puzzles that we both want to do, and then vie to see who has finished first!

    1. I always sit up in bed every night and do a couple of tear out crosswords from a little book I have.
Some people have said that it would keep them awake but I find it perfect to get me sleepy.

  10. When I was at junior school, (many years ago!) a boy in my class wrote Colonel Custard as the answer to a history question that should have been the name of an African chief. Only years later did I twig that he'd just written the first thing that came into his head, he didn't seriously think the answer was Colonel Custard!

  11. Maybe somewhere in the back of your mind you were thinking of George Armstrong Custer? (I'm trying to give you some credit here. :) )
