NEW CAT LITTER MAT

The cat litter tray is hidden in the bathroom behind the bath out of sight.

I have black and white floor tiles in the bathroom and they were constantly covered with sawdust and bits of litter where they were carrying it out on their feet after they had done the business.

Whilst standing in the queue at the pet shop the other day I got chatting to a lady about the mess they make and she told me about a mat that you could buy.

You place it in front of the litter tray and when they step out onto it the holes in the mat take some of the litter off making far less mess to clear up.

I was a bit skeptical over whether it would work and it wasn't cheap but to my surprise it does.

It opens up and you can shake the dust etc back into the tray, fully washable it's brilliant.

Job done.

  1. What a great invention! I well remember that feeling of a gritty bathroom floor from my cat-owning days. Not fun.

  4. That looks like a good idea. Mayze's litter box is in the spare bedroom. I keep a dustpan and brush at the ready. She scatters it everywhere.

  7. Our litter trays are downstairs in the laundry area--and it seems the cats vigorously throw litter outside the trays while doing their business. Messy creatures--but we love them

    1. Princess always seems to miss the tray and I have puddles to clear up, but like you I never mind, they can do anything and I still love them to bits.

  10. What an excellent idea. I wish I had one when I had cats! Sawdust everywhere from the wood pellets.

  11. Necessary with 5 cats. Ours still does it outside. Makes gardening a joy but the courgettes grow well.

    1. My Dad always used to say that cat poo was no good for the garden but Polly always will use our little patch if she can and all I can say is there are masses of worms in that spot and they are good for the soil aren't they.

  13. I shall instruct F to get me one of those she's always on my case about stray litter. She hates the sand so much i only get it when we go on tour. At home she forces me to use wood pellets so that she can compost the used stuff. Like Tasker she grows veg in it.

  14. WOW... what an interesting concept! Goldie's litter box is in my bathroom... the bathroom that only I use. I scoop the box twice daily... once when I get up and once before I go to bed. I sweep the floor once a day too, usually in the evening before my shower, but boy oh boy I *could* sweep it half a dozen times per day!! There's always litter on the floor. Goldie is so skittish that I'm afraid if I got something like this, she wouldn't want to get inside her kitty box... and we both know that would be disaster! *haha* But I'm glad it works so well for you & your furry brood. ~Andrea xoxoxo

  15. I live in The Netherlands and we use a mat like that since we have a cat, about 10 years now. It's available in every petshop here, never realised it wasn't for sale in the UK. It works perfect!
