It was a beautiful day today and so we decided to take a drive around the Sussex countryside.
Everywhere there were different hues of green with the new leaves coming out, and the lambs in the fields made it just a lovely day.
As we were driving we saw an small animal dash across the road and recognized it as a Stoat.
This is the first time we've seen one in years and it was such a joy and made my day.
It's not often you get the chance to see these little creatures.
After reading the passage above I can well believe that they are in danger of being run over.
Spotting the Stoat made my day.

How wonderful, like a little gift! It would have made my day as well. I have never seen one, only on T.V.
ReplyDeleteoften see them on the lane we live on , i should imagine we have a good population , never seen one squashed so they mush have road sense
ReplyDeleteThe shades of green are beautiful at this time of year, add the blossom and our countryside is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYears and years ago I saw a stoat when I was out with DH and it was enchanting! Thank you for reminding me of the memory, it's made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a stoat in the wild, what a treat!
ReplyDeleteHe's rather cute. Around here the animals that seem to get run over the most are skunks and woodchucks.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know such a sweet little creature existed, Briony. How darling. I'm so glad you saw one on your outing! And I'm glad your hubby felt well enough to go for a ride too. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see the stoat, I have never seen one.
ReplyDeleteAmazing creatures.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. We sometimes see them scurry across the road, as you did. It's no wonder that many end up squashed, poor things.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, I don't think I have ever seen one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sighting. They are very pretty. I hate seeing dead animals on the roadside.
ReplyDeleteWe watched one at Devil's Dyke a couple of years ago....they move so fast we couldn't get a photo! Arilx
ReplyDeleteWe've never even heard of a stoat, never mind seeing one! What a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteHow splendid that Tom was up to a nice drive in the country. You must do that again some time. Not only are there stoats in the Sussex countryside, you might also spot a herd of wildebeest thundering along the A27 to Lewes.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since you posted......hope that you and Tom are both OK ?
ReplyDeleteFrances, I was thinking the same. Is everything ok Briony? Hope you all are well. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts your way.
