After a distressing morning yesterday wondering how I was going to get the meds into Willow I solved the problem.
They all get the proper fur ball biscuits that are good for them but I also buy a bag of cheaper biscuits from the supermarket for treats. They love these but I am sparing with them.
They also get a small dish of wet food each evening.
I know, lol I am a slave to these little monkeys but I love them and nothing makes me happier than to just have them around and watch them.
I bought a new fresh bag of these treats and put 6 on the plate, then I squirted the meds on top and mixed them about.
I can't tell you have relieved I was when she gobbled them down, then I put 2 or 3 more and mopped up the residue and she ate them up.
This morning I have repeated this and again she has eaten them all, so I think this is the answer.
Once I have her on the mend I am thinking that I may take Princess for a blood test as I'm wondering if maybe she has a thyroid problem as well
For her it may be the other way around as she has got so fat and spends the whole day asleep under the duvet but doesn't really overeat.
With the cost of the med I'll be living on toast and jacket pots, lol
Feel a lot better today and meeting Penny for a coffee.
Enjoy your weekend

That's good to hear Briony. The answer might be to remove all food for a while so they are really hungry and eat anything. I spoil mine rotten as well. Nine bowls of food in a row, all different.
ReplyDeleteSuch a relief to be able to get those meds in her! It can be a nightmare I know! Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief - long may that continue! That's so much less stressful for your both. Glad to hear that you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes

Well done!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found a solution - and that's a good idea for Princess too.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazingly handsome cat. Well done on cracking the code to get the medicine in. It really is a job
ReplyDeleteThank goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a relief! You can still buy pasta very cheaply at Lidl. Boil it and then squirt a blob of tomato sauce on it and you have got yourself a balanced meal for around 10 pence.
ReplyDeleteBriony, that is a relief. Good luck with Princess.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a solution, hope you enjoyed your coffee. Elaine x
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found an easy solution.
ReplyDeleteThat must be a relief. Xx
ReplyDeleteThat's good news, Briony. We had a little rescue cat who developed a thyroid problem at the age of 15 and used to administer the medicine orally with a pipette. She got used to it. It is expensive and I read somewhere if you get a prescription from the vet you can shop around but I felt too loyal to the lovely vet to do so and worried about getting it right for our girl. The medicine gave her a good quality of life for another three years. Louise X
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, it has given me some hope. Poor little thing is so miserable and I desperately want her to get better. Briony

It's so hard to get animals to take tablets and medicine sometimes but the answer is usually always by mixing it in with food, they're so greedy, haha. I hope the medication is working by now.
ReplyDeleteI remember from my own experiences with cats how hard it is to get medicine into them. I eventually squirted their thyroid meds onto their wet food and they ate it, but hey, treats work too!
